Economic Stimulus: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

At its March 2009 meeting, the Intermodal Transportation Policy Committee and the ACOG Board of Directors approved a funding distribution plan and a project list for the region’s $33.67 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds, also known as Stimulus funds.

The plan ensures that each Oklahoma City Area Regional Transportation Study (OCARTS) area entity that had the capacity to participate would receive a portion of the Stimulus funding based on its share of population, with all entities receiving at least $225,000 regardless of size.

Priority for the project list was placed on projects that were “shovel ready,” meaning that they could be ready to go as quickly as possible. In the interest of transparency and accountability, this page will provide updates on how the OCARTS entities are spending the funding, and the status of their projects.
