The 911 & Public Safety Department provides funding, planning, technical support, rural fire services, dispatcher training and educational outreach assistance to 22 Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) throughout the 911 ACOG Service Area, enabling those agencies to deliver the highest quality Enhanced 911 service to its citizens.

911 ACOG

The 911 Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (911 ACOG) is an intergovernmental entity formed to implement, administer and coordinate the operation of the regional Enhanced 911 (E911) emergency communication service in Central Oklahoma. 911 ACOG was created on April 15, 1988, in partnership with local and state officials.

911 ACOG is funded by service fees from Landline, wireless and VoIP phone users. This funding is used to build and maintain the system infrastructure needed to operate a regional enhanced 911 system. 911 ACOG staff is provided through an administrative agreement with ACOG.

Boards and Committees

911 ACOG is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of elected officials appointed by county commissions and city/town councils of the communities in which 911 ACOG serves.

The 911 Regional Planning and Advisory Committee (911 RPAC) consists of 911 managers and other public safety officials from the region. This body also advises both the Board of Directors and staff on policies that impact the operations of the regional system.

911 Institute

In 1994, ACOG established the 911 Institute to offer Central Oklahoma emergency dispatchers a top quality, affordable and nationally accredited alternative to expensive out-of-state training.  In the past decade, the Institute has trained over 1,200 dispatchers, taught over 225 classes and more than 550 dispatchers have received national certifications through our classes. As the major source for training dispatchers for 29 years, the 911 Institute of Oklahoma is viewed as the expert and model for 911 training for the entire state. Some of the courses offered include: Public Safety Telecommunicator I certification courses, Communications Training Officer (CTO) certification courses, Fire Service Communications, Domestic Violence, Crimes in Progress, Active Shooter, and many others.

Next Generation 911 (NG911)

As one of the largest 911 systems in Oklahoma, 911 ACOG seeks to successfully implement and operate the first Next Generation 911 (NG911) solution in the state of Oklahoma. This advanced service will support the 22 Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs) and the citizens living and working in the communities served by ACOG. NG911 is an Internet Protocol (IP) emergency communications infrastructure comprised of a managed hardware, software and databases that enables call routing and enhanced capabilities for the ECC.

GIS play a vital role in assisting 911 dispatchers in locating callers accurately. In Central Oklahoma, the collaboration between 911 ACOG and local communities ensures that map data remains consistently updated. This commitment guarantees that the latest information is readily accessible for processing 911 calls promptly and with precision. To accomplish this, the 911 ACOG GIS team works closely with member entities to ensure dispatchers have access to the most current and relevant map data.

Rural Fire Defense Program

The ACOG Rural Fire Defense Program is vital in helping Central Oklahoma’s local government respond to fires and other emergencies in a timely manner.  The Program establishes new fire departments where needed, assists all fire departments in lowering their ISO insurance classifications, equipment needs, training, and equipment specifications.
