Get Behind the Wheel at Earth Day Electric Car Ride and Drive

University of Oklahoma students, faculty, and staff as well as the general public will have an opportunity to get in the driver seat of some of the most popular electric cars at an educational Earth Day event Friday, April 22.

The showcase will highlight the clean-air benefits and cost-savings of electric cars. Participants will even have a chance to drive some of the vehicles.

Featured vehicles include

  • Chevrolet Volt
  • Tesla Model S
  • Nissan Leaf
  • BMW i3

Current electric vehicle owners will be present to answer common questions about how much these cars cost, their convenience, and how they work. Electric vehicle experts from the Central Oklahoma Clean Cities Coalition and the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) will also be present to answer questions and provide educational materials.

The events kicks off at 11 a.m. near the north entrance of the Lloyd Noble Center, 2900 Jenkins Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma. It will go until 2 p.m. Central Oklahoma Clean Cities is organizing the event. The Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company, Bob Moore Nissan, Jackie Cooper BMW, and Onyx Theaters are local sponsors. Also playing an important role are current and future EV owners.
