Inaugural Class
Lysa Baker, ENP, RPL, 9-1-1 ACOG Education Coordinator, recently graduated from the inaugural class of APCO International’s Certified Public-Safety Executive (CPE) Program. Lysa is one of 22 individuals to have earned the prestigious CPE professional designation. APCO’s CPE Program began in July 2016 and is designed for public safety communications professionals who aspire to executive leadership positions within the industry.
Drawing on resources from renowned leadership professionals and distinguished academic resources, the CPE Program allows participants to explore topics that include management versus leadership, models/theories of leadership, leadership styles, public safety leadership issues, and executing and managing change. The CPE program consists of two 12-week online courses and an intensive nine-day capstone seminar at APCO headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.
CPE Program
“We recognized the need for executive leadership training within our industry,” said Cheryl J. Greathouse, RPL, APCO International President. “Working closely with our members and experts in leadership and organizational development, we designed the CPE Program to give public safety professionals an unparalleled experience that is specific to our industry.”
The CPE Program is offered twice yearly. Applications are being accepted until April 15, 2017 for the next two CPE sessions, scheduled to begin in July 2017 and January 2018. The CPE Program is open to APCO Registered Public-Safety Leaders (RPLs) and/or individuals with a minimum of an associate’s degree.
