Drive Electric
Dozens of Oklahoma City-area electric vehicle drivers and EV enthusiasts gathered together on Saturday to celebrate the growth of electric vehicles travelling on Oklahoma’s roadways. They congregated in the shadow of the Wheeler District Ferris Wheel to highlight the fun, clean-air benefits, and cost-savings of electric cars. The event is part of the sixth annual National Drive Electric Week and the third event held in Oklahoma City.
Nine different EV models were on display including Tesla Model S, Chevy Volts and Bolts, and Nissan Leafs. Twenty-six EV drivers attending the event reported more than 564,000 electric miles driven.
Oklahoma City’s event is one of more than 100 across the country where electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold EV events.
“Plug-in electric vehicles are saving Oklahomans money, improving our region’s air quality, and are more fun, efficient, and convenient to drive,” said Eric Pollard, Association of Central Oklahoma Government’s (ACOG) Clean Cities Coordinator. “EV’s are already becoming the preferred vehicle of penny-pinchers, tech geeks, and environmentalists but more and more are a better choice for a majority of Oklahoma drivers.”
