Fun and Educational Events
Since its founding in 1970, millions of people have celebrated Earth Day and advocated for protection and conservation of land, air and water resources.
Through ACOG’s water quality, air quality, alternative fuels, and transportation programs we work to protect and conserve our natural resources. Join ACOG in attending several exciting Earth day events coming up this Spring.
ACOG Water Resources Division
ACOG’s Water Resources Division helps local governments to maximize the use of ground and surface water resources. This includes planning, management, protection and research of potable water supplies.

Oklahoma City Parks
Oklahoma City Parks will host an Earth Day Celebration on March 31. Volunteers can assist with spring plantings to help support Oklahoma City Parks. The place for volunteers to meet is yet to be determined. Please RSVP to Ally Ratliff, aratliff@thesca.org.
EarthFest
Earthfest will be held on April 7, at Martin Park Nature Center, 5000 West Memorial Road, Oklahoma City. This event features a celebration of the Earth with ecofriendly games, crafts and activities.
Arcadia Lake Sweep
The Arcadia Lake Sweep at Spring Creek Park, SE 15th Street, Edmond, Oklahoma, is scheduled for April 7. Grab your gloves, sunscreen and head out to Arcadia Lake for the annual lake sweep event. Participants will receive a T-shirt while supplies last as well a hot-dog lunch. Trash bags and clean-up assignments are given at registration table. The event runs from 8 – 11 a.m.
OU EV Ride & Drive
The University of Oklahoma Earth Month Electric Vehicle Ride & Drive will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 12, on the SE corner of the Lloyd Noble Parking Lot. Different EV models will be available for test drives. The event is part of a lineup of OU Earth Month activities.
Martin Nature Park
A Public Clean-up Day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Martin Park Nature Center, 5000 West Memorial Road, Oklahoma City. Attendees need to pre-register. This event is best suited for people ages 6 and up.
OKC Botanic Garden
The Oklahoma City Botanic Garden will celebrate Earth Day 12 to 11:55 p.m., April 22.
Tree Planting
A Community Tree Planting will be held 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., April 13, at Will Rogers Gardens, 3400 NW 36th Street, Okahoma City. This activity will help beautify the gardens.
Reaves Park
An Earth Day Festival will be held at Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins Avenue, Norman, April 15. The event features family fun activities teaching the importance of protecting our earth including hands-on art projects, musical entertainment, mascots, pet adoption and more. The event runs from 12 to 5 p.m.
UCO
The University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate Earth Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 19. A list of activities is to be announced.
OG&E EV Ride and Drive
O G & E will celebrate Earth Day with their annual Electric Vehicle (EV) Ride & Drive, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 21, OSU-OKC Precision Driving Training Center, 3501 W. Reno, Oklahoma City. Participants will be able to test drive a number of electric vehicle models on a closed testing track.
Zoo: Party for the Planet
Party for the Planet at the Oklahoma City Zoo, 2101 NE 50th Street, will feature live entertainment in the Global Plaza, Keeper Connections throughout the zoo and more. Free with admission. The event will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 30.
Zoo: Party for the Planet
A virtual Earth Day 5K and 10K race will be held April 22 or April 30, at locations selected by individual runners. Once participants have completed their race and turned in their time they are sent a beautiful Earth Day metal. Fifteen percent of registration cost are donated to Wild Earth Allies.
Ozone Alert Day Program
Since the 1970’s ACOG has supported the voluntary actions of our members to reduce ozone causing emissions, particularly NOx and VOCs.
ACOG manages the region’s Ozone Alert Day program in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. ACOG issues Ozone Alert Day notices following days when concentrations of ozone approach levels of concern.
