Since January, the City of Edmond has been developing a Bicycle Master Plan, which will serve as a guide for the creation of a city-wide, connected bicycle network that promotes bicycling as a safe, reliable means of transportation. The City has been collecting input from the public, working with consultants to develop implementation milestones and finalizing the plan’s objectives in preparation for submitting the Bicycle Master Plan to the Edmond City Council for adoption on October 8th.
Goals of the Bicycle Master Plan include an education component for disseminating information on user rights and responsibilities, planning and design best practices for city staff, outreach to schools, crash reduction, establishing methods of collecting usage data and adopting a procedure to incorporate bike trail opportunities into planning major traffic corridor projects.
Citizens can review the draft of the Edmond Bicycle Master Plan and related information via the City of Edmond’s dedicated page or download the Bicycle Master Plan Report, dated August 1st, here.
