Apply Now for the Air Quality Small Grant Program

Program Funds Small Transportation Infrastructure Projects & Congestion Relief Efforts

Organizations working to improve air quality in their area are encouraged to apply for an Air Quality Small Grant from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG).

“The goal of the ACOG Air Quality Small Grant Program is to improve regional air quality by reducing reliance on the single-occupancy vehicle trip,” Hannah Nolen, AICP, ACOG Mobility & Planning Manager said. “Our program approaches that goal by funding small active transportation and transit infrastructure projects and efforts to relieve road congestion.”

Grant applicants must be located within the boundaries of the Central Oklahoma Transportation Management Area (TMA) and may include:

• Local governments (towns, cities, and counties)
• Transit agencies
• Public school districts, public schools, or public universities (with support from local municipality)
• Tribal governments

Projects eligible for the program can be no less than $50,000 and must be paramount to the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program. Based on federal rules, the program will function as a reimbursement program. Applicants are required to generate 20 percent of their proposed project budget through local, non-federal funds.

Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

• Bicycle racks, repair stations, and signage
• Pedestrian signage and pavement markings
• Sidewalks and bicycle lanes
• New transit facilities such as lines, stations, stops, and terminals
• Traffic signalization projects
• Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects
• Traffic calming measures

The grant application window opens Tuesday, August 1 and closes September 29.
