ACOG to Host BikeFest 2022

Celebrate the Benefits of Bicycling for Fun, Fitness and Transportation

The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG), in partnership with Watch for Me OK and the Wheeler District, is hosting BikeFest 2022 on Sunday, May 1, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Ferris Wheel.

BikeFest is a family friendly festival designed to celebrate the benefits of bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation. The event will kick-off Bike Month, which is celebrated annually during May.

This free event is open to the public and is a great chance to visit with local bike shops, community organizations, and learn about bicycle riding, safety, and maintenance.

Burger Punk and Wondervan Pops will be on site with food, as well as beer from The Big Friendly and Lively Beerworks. There will be music from local artists Stephen Salewon and Wood Willow, along with bike repair and safety demonstrations from REI, Bike Club OKC, and Celestial Cycles.

The Cycle Society will offer free spin classes on site during the event. Local bicycle advocate Tony Carfang will provide a training on How to be a Bicycle Advocate.

“ACOG has long recognized the benefits of bicycling as a piece of the transportation network. It’s important in terms of reducing congestion, improving air quality, and enhancing residents’ health,” states John Sharp, Deputy Director at ACOG. “We’re thrilled to celebrate these benefits with the residents of Central Oklahoma through BikeFest.”
