Every year, the League of American Bicyclists designates May as National Bike Month. This is a month to recognize and celebrate the benefits that bicycling has to community health and the environment, as well as its legitimacy as a mode of transportation.
Due to COVID-19, Central Oklahoma Bike Month activities will look a little different than previous years.
Bike to Work Week, a staple of Bike Month, has been postponed until the week of September 21-27, with Bike to Work Day, coinciding with Car Free Day, on Tuesday Sept. 22. ACOG plans to observe Bike to Work Day on Friday, September 25.
All Bike Month group rides have been either cancelled or postponed for this year. However, there are several organized opportunities to get out and ride, while still complying with local and national health recommendations. ACOG is celebrating Bike Month with an area wide Bicycle Scavenger Hunt. This fun activity is an opportunity to get out and explore your community by bicycle! A list of other local activities can be also be found on the Central Oklahoma Bike Month Activities Calendar.
