Central Oklahoma to Celebrate Bike to Work Day
Bike to Work Day provides a chance to show the many benefits and legitimacy of cycling as a mode of transportation. Some people will ride for their wallet, others will ride for their health or the environment. Either way, Bike to Work Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the power of bicycling.
In a normal year, Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day are celebrated in May, to align with National Bike Month. However, due to COVID-19, it was decided to reschedule these events to the week of September 21-27, with Bike to Work Day taking place Friday, September 25.
Five metro-area communities will celebrate Bike to Work Day with official events. Residents from Edmond, Guthrie, Norman, The Village, and Yukon will ride designated routes to celebrate the benefits of bicycling. Participants of these rides are encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
If you don’t feel comfortable riding in a group, or your community isn’t hosting a group ride, you can still participate by taking a picture on your ride and posting it to social media using the hashtag #BikeCentralOK.
