DOE offers paid internships through Clean Cities and Communities Accelerate, a workforce development initiative that unites Clean Cities and Communities coalitions across the country with early-career professionals interested in changing the future of on-road transportation. This initiative, managed by Argonne National Laboratory, aims to advance the adoption of clean transportation technologies and positively impact the nation’s air quality, energy security, and economic prosperity.

At the workshop, Interns had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the rapidly evolving transportation and energy sectors, learning about emerging technologies and career opportunities available. The session also included discussions on community outreach, giving interns the tools to effectively engage with and impact their local communities while pursuing careers in transportation and energy.

For mentors, the workshop included sessions on how that fosters growth and professional development.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a tour of the Lab, which gave attendees a rare behind-the-scenes look at the Lab’s groundbreaking research.

Since 2015, ACOG and the Central Oklahoma Clean Cities Coalition (COCC) has been awarded eleven Accelerate interns. Each intern provided work that contributed to the growth of the COCC mission. Interns have gone on to careers in Oklahoma including positions at ACOG, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Ada Jobs Foundation, Jacobs, Northern Oklahoma Development Authority, and the City of Newcastle.
