EMBARK Offers Free Third-Friday Bus & Streetcar Rides During 2019 Ozone Season

ACOG thanks the Central Oklahoma Transportation & Parking Authority (COTPA) for continued partnership, investment, and leadership in air quality improvement actions for Central Oklahoma. This includes EMBARK’s FREE third Friday fares during ozone season for fixed route bus, zone 1 ADA para-transit and streetcar.

The resolution authorizing the free fares was approved by the COTPA Board on March 1. EMBARK uses advanced free fares during ozone season to communicate with the public on the air quality benefits of public transportation as well as giving non-riders an incentive to use transit at no cost for commuting or exploring Central Oklahoma’s many attractions.

Increased public transportation usage reduces vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and single occupancy vehicle trips effectively reducing regional emissions. When combined with COTPA’s increased utilization of alternative fuel and hybrid buses – the region achieves a double-whammy of emissions reductions. old.

ACOG houses the Ozone Alert Day program for the Greater Oklahoma City metropolitan region.
