May is National Bike Month! According to the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month was established in 1956. May provides a chance to show the many benefits and legitimacy of cycling as a mode of transportation. Some people will ride for their wallet, others will ride for their health or the environment. Either way, Bike Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the power of bicycling. There are many activities planned throughout Central Oklahoma that you can see at the region’s Bike Month calendar.

A major highlight of the month long celebration is National Bike to Work Day, held Friday, May 17, 2019. Seven metro-area communities will celebrate the occasion with official events. Residents from Edmond, Guthrie, Moore (May 18), Norman, Oklahoma City, The Village (May 11), and Yukon will join thousands of Americans in commuting to work via bicycles.

We hope to see you at one of the many events occurring throughout May in Central Oklahoma!
