ACOG KICKS OFF PUBLIC OUTREACH FOR CENTRAL OKLAHOMA METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION PLAN

OKLAHOMA CITY — — The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) is kicking off public outreach in promotion of Encompass 2045, the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for Central Oklahoma. The plan serves as Central Oklahoma’s guide for investing more than $10 billion in its multimodal transportation system between 2015 and 2045.

“Central Oklahoma has experienced significant growth over the past decade,” said Mark Sweeney, Executive Director, ACOG. “We believe this trend will continue and many more citizens and businesses will move into the region in the years to come.” This welcomed growth means more trips that will impact congestion, mobility, and our overall quality of life.”

“We must earnestly look ahead and plan for suitable mobility options including improved roadways, transit services, and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.”

ENCOMPASS 2045

The Encompass 2045 MTP for Central Oklahoma was developed over the past five years in coordination with member communities, area transit providers, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, and various other stakeholders.

In the spirit of public participation, ACOG has developed a public outreach plan which outlines strategies that will be employed to inform, engage, and receive input from Central Oklahoma residents.
