NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATOR WEEK CELEBRATES UNSUNG HEROES OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Every year, National Telecommunicator Week (NTW) offers an opportunity to honor the dedicated professionals who serve as the vital link between individuals in distress and emergency response teams. From April 14-20, communities in the 911 ACOG service area  will celebrate the invaluable contributions of telecommunicators in ensuring public safety and saving lives.

Telecommunicators, often working behind the scenes, play a critical role in emergency response systems. They answer distress calls, dispatch emergency personnel, provide life-saving instructions, and offer reassurance to callers in moments of crisis. Their calm demeanor, quick thinking, and unwavering dedication are instrumental in coordinating effective responses to emergencies of all kinds, including medical incidents, fires, natural disasters, and criminal activities.

“In times of crisis, telecommunicators are the heartbeat of emergency response who provide a lifeline to those in need,” said Brent Hawkinson, ACOG 911 & Public Safety Director said. “Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to public service are truly commendable. National Telecommunicator Appreciation Week is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and recognize the indispensable role they play in safeguarding our communities.”

This year’s NTW theme, “The Heartbeat of Emergency Response,” highlights the selfless commitment of telecommunicators to their profession and their communities. Throughout the week, various events and activities will be organized to honor telecommunicators and raise awareness about the importance of their work.
