Who We Are
Transportation plays a vital role in today’s economy, providing access to jobs, education, shopping and recreation. It is an integral part of our mobile society influencing urban development, economic vitality, quality of life and national defense.
ACOG serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Greater Oklahoma City region and manages the work of the MPO. This includes the region’s $10 billion long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), as well as more than $20 million in annual federal grants for local transportation improvements by partnering with the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Short-Range Transportation Planning
The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a cooperatively developed four-year program outlining multimodal transportation improvements and services to be implemented within the Oklahoma City Area Region.
Unified Planning Work Program
The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) is prepared annually and serves as a basis for requesting federal planning funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation as well as a management tool for scheduling, budgeting and monitoring planning activities of participating entities.
Long Range Plan: Encompass 2045
Every five years, ACOG produces a new Metropolitan Transportation Plan that creates a long-term vision of our regional transportation system. Encompass 2045, looks 25 years into the future to guide Central Oklahoma’s transportation dollars. Encompass 2045 | Encompass 2040
Congestion Management
ACOG’s Congestion Management Process (CMP) is tailored to maximize the use and efficiency of existing transportation facilities to relieve congestion and improve livability.

Central Oklahoma Clean Cities is one of nearly 100 locally based affiliates of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program.

Regional Transit
Fixed route transit service in the Central Oklahoma region is operated by three providers in Central Oklahoma: COTPA/EMBARK in Oklahoma City and Norman, and Citylink in Edmond.
